June 6th P&F Results in Santa Cruz CountyLocal CandidatesState SenateThere are no Peace and Freedom Party candidates for State Senate in Santa Cruz County. U.S. House of RepresentativesThere are no Peace and Freedom Party candidates for U.S. House of Representatives in Santa Cruz County. State AssemblyThere are no Peace and Freedom Party candidates for State Assembly in Santa Cruz County. Local Non-partisan OfficesThe webmaster is not aware of any endorsements by the Santa Cruz County Peace and Freedom Party organization of any candidates for local non-partisan offices which were voted on in the June 6th primary election. Peace and Freedom Party Central CommitteesEight members of the Peace and Freedom Party Central Committees were elected from Santa Cruz County in 2004. Three people, Maureen Smith, Michael J. Smith and Joe Williams qualified to run for Central Committees from the county in the June 2006 primary election, but they were declared elected without an election because there were only three candidates for seven seats and no petition not to cancel the election was submitted by the March 30th deadline. Local MeasuresThe webmaster is not aware of any positions taken by the Santa Cruz County Peace and Freedom Party organization on any county, municipal or regional measures that were on the ballot June 6th in Santa Cruz County. Regional CandidateDave Campbell is running for Board of Equalization in the 1st Board of Equalization District, which includes all of Santa Cruz County. He received 78 votes in Santa Cruz County, of 1,508 in the entire district. Statewide CandidatesThe slate of Peace and Freedom Party candidates for statewide partisan public offices are:
The Peace and Freedom Party also recommended a vote for Sarah Knopp for Superintendent of Public Instruction. She is a teacher and a socialist, though not a P&F member, who came in second of five candidates with 695,372 votes (17.3%) statewide for this nominally non-partisan position. In Santa Cruz County, she got 9,210 votes (20.8%). Statewide MeasuresThere were two propositions on the statewide ballot June 6th, assigned proposition numbers 81 and 82. At its April 1st-2nd State Central Committee meeting, the Peace and Freedom Party took a position on one of measures.
