June 6th P&F Results in Riverside CountyLocal CandidatesState SenateThere are no Peace and Freedom Party candidates for State Senate in Riverside County. U.S. House of RepresentativesKevin Akin of Riverside is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 44th Congressional District, which includes the northwest portion of Riverside County (specifically, Riverside, Corona, Norco, Mira Loma, Eastvale and Jurupa, and a small part of Perris), as well as a strip along the southeastern edge of Orange County. He received 50 votes in Riverside County, of 54 in the entire district. State AssemblyJon Taleb of Joshua Tree is running for state Assembly in the 65th Assembly District, which includes north-west-central portions of Riverside County (the northern half of the county between one-eighth and one-fourth of the way east from its western edge, including Calimesa, Cherry Valley, Banning, Beaumont, San Jacinto, Valle Vista, Hemet, Winchester, Homeland, Sun City, Romoland, Perris, Lakeview, Nuevo, and the southeastern two-thirds of Moreno Valley), as well as south-west-central portions of San Bernardino County. She received 20 votes in Riverside County, of 33 in the entire district. Local Non-partisan OfficesThe webmaster is not aware of any endorsements by the Riverside County Peace and Freedom Party organization of any candidates for local non-partisan offices which were voted on in the June 6th primary election. Peace and Freedom Party Central CommitteesFive members of the Peace and Freedom Party Central Committees were elected from Riverside County in 2004. The webmaster is not aware of any candidates only for Central Committees from the county who ran in the June 2006 primary election, but Kevin Akin, Margie Akin and Stewart Alexander became members of the Central Committees when they were nominated for Congress, Secretary of State, and Lieutenant Governor, respectively. Local MeasuresThe webmaster is not aware of any positions taken by the Riverside County Peace and Freedom Party organization on any county, municipal or regional measures that were on the ballot June 6th in Riverside County. Regional CandidateMary Lou Finley is running for Board of Equalization in the 3rd Board of Equalization District, which includes all of Riverside County. She received 115 votes in Riverside County, of 803 in the entire district. Statewide CandidatesThe slate of Peace and Freedom Party candidates for statewide partisan public offices are:
The Peace and Freedom Party also recommended a vote for Sarah Knopp for Superintendent of Public Instruction. She is a teacher and a socialist, though not a P&F member, who came in second of five candidates with 695,372 votes (17.3%) statewide for this nominally non-partisan position. In Riverside County, she came in third with 24,524 votes (14.9%). Statewide MeasuresThere were two propositions on the statewide ballot June 6th, assigned proposition numbers 81 and 82. At its April 1st-2nd State Central Committee meeting, the Peace and Freedom Party took a position on one of measures.
